The challenge
The team needed one place for its calendar, roster, results and news, and a way to sign up for games that works for everyone, including older members on phones, for whom passwords and multi-step forms are the hardest part.
What we built
A Next.js app in three parts: a public site with the team’s video, an event calendar, player cards, game recaps and news; a member portal where taking part is one tap; and an admin area for members, events, players, news and settings. Admins open registration per event, set seat limits and send personal sign-in links. Full events get a waiting list that promotes the next person automatically, and headcounts are shown to signed-in members only.
Highlights
- One-tap registration, with a single confirmation before cancelling
- Personal sign-in links that lead to a password step; members stay signed in on their phone
- Seat limits and a waiting list that gives a freed place to the next in line, first come, first served
- Registration opened and closed per event, with headcounts visible to members only
- 18px text, 48px controls, forms that work without JavaScript and a WCAG contrast check for every colour pair
- Season statistics recounted from official game protocols, social sharing images and a live design-system page
